HERMAN  PEKEL                

A master painter in oils as well as watercolour and living in Victoria, born in 1956 to Dutch parents.  Started painting at 8 years of age, held his first solo exhibition whilst still in his teens, and the success of that show was outstanding and has continued to this day. He is a 'plein air' painter along the style of the 'Heidelberg School' of painters.

Herman studied painting in London and Amsterdam where he encountered the works of Constable, Turner and Rembrandt who influenced his style of painting.

He is a multi-award winning artist including first prizes in: the coveted 'Camberwell Art Show'- Gold Medal Award;  he won the 'Camberwell Travel Scholarship' for Best oil - 2004. Twice winner of the 'Alice Bale Award'; Best of Show at the 'Victor Harbor Art Show' - 2002.  Apart from these notable prizes Herman has won over 100 major awards.

His paintings are featured in the books:- 'Australian Impressionist and Realist Artists' by Tom Roberts;  '120 Years of Watercolours';  Artists and Galleries of Australia and New Zealand' by Max Germaine; and 'Profile on Contemporary Watercolours'.

Herman's works are represented in many private, municipal and corporate collections world-wide.
