Paul MARGOCSY      

In 1978 Paul became engrossed in wildlife art and held his first exhibitions in South Australia, Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne. In 1985, he became a member of "The Wildlife Art Society of Australasia". The following year he won the award for best painting at their exhibition and a year later won the best watercolour exhibit.

He was included in a book of the best 70 living realist artists in Australia. He was commissioned by Australia Post in 1991 for a stamp issue of waterbirds and by the United Nations in 1994 for an endangered species series, which was released in Vienna.

Paul had a successful joint exhibition in London which led to him exhibiting as feature artist at the prestigious Omell Galleries in London in 1992/93.

In 1994 he released a book depicting many of his beautiful works. The same year he held his first solo exhibition in the U.S.A. in Wisconsin, which led to three further solo exhibitions. That same year he won the best overall painting at "The Wildlife Art Society of Australasia" show in Melbourne.

Paul was the only Australian artist to be chosen in 1995 and 1996 to exhibit in the highly acclaimed Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, "Birds in Art" exhibition in America, making him the third Australian to be chosen in 20 years. This exhibition attracts over 3,500 wildlife artists worldwide, from these only 80 paintings are chosen to be exhibited.

In 1996/97 he had success in Osaka Japan with solo exhibitions and also in the prestigious Raffles Hotel in Singapore in 1996 and 1998.

In February 2007 Paul had a solo exhibition in Hong Kong, the only Australian wildlife artist to have done so.

February 2008 Paul produced his second book “Away with the Birds” which is available for sale in the Gallery.
